Great article! For a period of time I didn’t understand writers claiming they weren’t writers. I even had friends who had written books who wouldn’t claim the title of author. Then I heard Toni Morrison explain that it wasn’t until after her third book was published that she finally was able to see herself as an author. Before then, she said, “I’m a teacher who writes.”
