Beauty of Poetry

From Amazon:

Beauty of Poetry written by Author Brenda Mohammed is filled with poems of various genres separated by picturesque posters before every genre. She has penned poems on love, nature, world icons, world monuments, peace, motivational poems, and Christian life. As a cancer survivor, she has dedicated a section for persons fighting cancer, surviving cancer, or lost loved ones because of this dread disease. The book is easy to read as readers can read his/her favourite genres in the order they prefer. The famous English poet John Keats said, “An object of beauty gives us perennial joy. Beauty never fades and is not devalued. A thing of beauty is a joy forever and it makes us forget the sorrows and sufferings of the world.” Keats also conceptualized beauty as truth and truth as beauty. He said, “Beauty is truth, truth beauty that is all ye know on earth, and all ye need to know. Heard melodies are sweet, but those unheard are sweeter.” Another famous English poet, William Wordsworth said, “Poetry is when an emotion has found its thought and the thought has found words. Painting is silent poetry, and poetry is painting that speaks. Poetry is the spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings: it takes its origin from emotion recollected in tranquillity.” All the above describes the beautiful poetry in Beauty of Poetry, and what makes it special. It will be a beautiful asset to your library.

This book is a very touching book with many poems that touch the heart. From writing about the beauty of a butterfly landing on one’s clothes before flying away, the beauty of gardens in other countries, overcoming situations in which she could have drowned, gone septic, cancer striking, an array of hard to fight viral illnesses, dengue, the list is endless but the central theme that with God all would be won persevered. The power of love for God and belief in Him is the driving force.

ROMANCE IN EVERGREEN

“What did you just say? The senior officer (Special Agent Thompson) of the two men from
Homeland Security, that both Nancy and Kim knew prior, repeated, ‘Rob and Liza Caldwell
were taken out as a hit’ in Boston last night and we think their assassin is the agent
handler extraordinaire, who put out the hit job on the President, and on you, Kim, last
November. The hit man’s name is Jeffrey Sanders, we don’t know any alias, ethnicity, or
if male or female. Security cameras were disabled before the actual hit. Rob and Liza
were asleep when it happened early this morning. A silencer was used, and neighbors heard
their dog barking non-stop and became worried. The couple checked on them, found them dead
in their bed, and called 911. The police detectives could tell it was a professional hit
and called us. Special Agent Hughes and I flew directly here from Washington, DC. A note
left at the scene read, ‘Two down, eleven to go’ and the eleven to go are most likely both
of you, the President, and people unidentified. Make no mistake. The hit man will take out
anyone with you, when, NOT if, they find you.”

Beyond A Reasonable Doubt

Book Link

From Amazon:

Assistant DA, Jenna James took an oath to uphold the law, administer justice, deter crime and ensure the safety of the community. Her job isn’t easy, but it has always been black and white—criminals versus victims. Now she is the victim, and the very system she’s fought to uphold is suddenly corrupt, the lines between good and bad are blurred and her world has turned upside down. She’s always known that world existed—a world of power so immense that a single phone call can result in people disappearing or political offices being vacated, a world where doctors are available at a moment’s notice. She’s never been part of that world—never wanted to be. The body count is rising, and unless she finds proof beyond a reasonable doubt against a corrupt former federal judge, and a notorious criminal defense attorney, it will continue to rise.

My Review:

The scales that weigh good versus evil and the gray area between. That sentence sums up this book, yet it doesn’t. Greed is powerful, and the more you have, or have not, the more luring it is to be caught up in the circle of bold crime, hidden bodies, nver mind how, the lust for the more salacious side of life, the luxury of having fine homes, designer furniture and more way above one’s pay grade is more than enough to lure a reader to this book. This is the first book by Prather I’ve read. I’m hooked, plain, and simple. You will be as well.

Blurb:

It’s 1968 in Whisper Haven, and 8-year-old Carl Pozzi’s world is about to change.

For eight-year-old Carl Pozzi, 1968 begins like any other year—playing kickball with friends and enjoying the comforting aroma of Mom’s pasta dinners in their predominantly white suburban Whisper Haven home. But when Carl’s teacher introduces lessons about racial prejudice and injustice, his worldview cracks wide open.

How far can innocence stretch before it snaps?

As Carl flips through the pages of his 3-ring binder, each lesson serves as a gateway to a journey of self-discovery and understanding. It’s an expedition that not only changes him but reshapes his whole concept of family and justice—especially as he watches his father put on a police uniform during one of the most fraught periods in American history.

“Covered in Flour” is not just a heartfelt stroll down memory lane. It’s a captivating coming-of-age saga that digs deep beneath the surface of suburban tranquility. It beckons you to reconsider long-held family values and confront the societal norms you’ve taken for granted.

Written with genuine love, humor, and a tinge of sorrow, this story blends the nostalgia of tradition with the inevitability of change, offering a stirring mix that leaves you pondering long after the last page is turned. This book isn’t just a delightful read; it’s a catalyst for introspection, freshly baked and served for your soul.

When Angels Fly:

Writing about the backdrop for “Covered in Flour” takes me back to 1968, an unforgettable chapter in American history. It was a year that mixed up everything in a tumultuous blend of social unrest, political shocks, and a war that seemed to never end. Now, imagine seeing all of this through the eyes of an eight-year-old—me, back then. My dad, gearing up in his riot control outfit, is one of those memories that just sticks with you. He had this gear, right? A white helmet, a wooden baton, and the sap—a heavy, metal-filled club. For a kid, this was more than just clothing; it was a signal that big, serious things were happening.

Our family life kind of revolved around these events. We’d watch the news, seeing cities burning and people marching, and then we’d sit at the dinner table and talk about it. I remember feeling this mix of fear and fascination, trying to make sense of it all. My dad, preparing to face the riots, became my personal link to the chaos outside our front door.

Reflecting on this as an adult, and writing “Covered in Flour,” I dove deep into what 1968 meant. It wasn’t just about recounting the big headlines; it was about feeling that year, understanding the tension, the hopes, and the fears. I pored over family stories, historical records, and tried to capture the spirit of the times. My aim was to bring readers into that year, to feel the upheaval and see how it shaped a young boy’s view of the world. It’s this journey from innocence to a broader understanding of society that I wanted to share, all set against a backdrop of a country at a crossroads.
