Helping You Take as Good Care of Yourself as You Do Others
Life on Molly is a travel and lifestyle blog. I am a normal girl with many passions. I am an explorer of new places, a learner of new languages, creator of my ambitions, blogger, and a good pal. This blog is my little corner of the world where I am able to share my adventures with you and inspire you to live a life full of purpose.
Writings from the heart - for the heart
I’m very sorry for your losses. I’m not one for playing the “My loss is worse than yours” game but I think child loss and pet loss are very different. For one thing, everyone expects their pet to die before they do. No one expects their child to die before they do and it’s a loss I wish no parent had to face.

It’s not a competition. Not at all. I’ve only tried to convey and validate the loss of both. I had a dog growing up. Family dog. I was the one who took care of her needs. She was more of a sibling to me than some of my human siblings. I loved her. When she was put down after an accident, I died inside. I lost my friend, my beautiful cocker spaniel. That pain is still with me today.

My fur girls are 17 this year. I will never have kids. Believe me when I say this loss of my fur girls will hit me like a tonne of bricks. I also lost my mum when I was 27. I can’t tell you what that loss was like. All loss hurts. That’s why it’s a loss; loss of that special soul that touched our lives in some way.

The grief journey is real, and you are quite right, not a competition.

I wish for no more parents to find out what child loss actually feels like.
